Die design engineer (Russia)

Good day!

I’m Dmitry. I live in Russia.

I’m a die design engineer (cold stamping).

I am interested in the way engineers from different countries design dies for cold stamping. Do they use methods which differ from those in our country or they have the same manufacturing technology.

If you have references to such information I would be very obliged to you if you send me them to my e-mail. (proecty@mail.ru)

I wrote an article devoted to different methods of die design for cold stamping in Russia.

Die design for cold stamping – different methods

Within the general rules there are two main methods of die designing for cold stamping. According to the design dies are divided into inexpensive and common for convenience.

Take progressive die as an example of designing features of the first group dies.

The main feature of such dies is the buffer (violet) in the form of bar and its place in the die construction. The buffer has the same size as the other details of the operational pack (punch plate, blankholder, plane). Its position between the punch plate and blankholder helps to obtain minimum dimension of operational pack and the whole die; less amount of details and, as a result, minimal manufacturing cost.

Now here is another example of the same method of designing but other way of punching-out (stamping punch is at the bottom).
